PTT Harmony? Project 25 with LTE - IWCE 2021
- Project 25 has a large established base of over 2900 systems on the air today. As the new First-Net Broadband data system rolls out; many radio users and technologists question what type of Mission Critical PTT interoperability and sharing will be available between the two systems.
- TIA and ATIS have an ongoing Working Group to develop guidelines for MCPTT inter-working between P25 and LTE systems.
- A study document is complete that contains scenarios and considerations for the use of a 3GPP Release 15 Interworking Function (IWF) to enable interoperability of common standard services between a 3GPP MC system (First Net)and a TIA-based LMR system (P25). Three distinct TIA-based LMR systems are examined: P25 trunking, P25 conventional, and TIA-603 analog conventional FM.
- Business Models of potential LMR/LTE Applications will be explored along with Public Safety User Expectations for PTT Operation and Interworking between the two services.
P25 ON STEROIDS: HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR P25 SYSTEM

- A panel of veteran P25 System Administrators offered a first-hand view of their experience with P25.
- A description of their P25 Systems including individual best practices and lessons learned to maximize interoperability, performance, and cost-effective communications for their member agencies will be detailed.
- Profiles Included the Michigan State-wide (MPSCS) with over 120,000 P25 subscribers; Miami Dade County regional P25 system including details of their coordinated Multi Agency Response capability for major events and hurricanes; The State of Connecticut's successful integration of small municipal stand-alone agencies into their P25 State-wide Network; Prince William County Virginia’s Interoperability with the National Capitol Region; and finally, Montgomery County Hospital System in Texas with a working system to system (ISSI) P25 interface between two different P25 manufacturers systems and details of their recent COVID response.
