Project 25 Technology Information Group

The Project 25 Technology Interest Group has updated the 2015 data base list of all known P25 Systems in the USA, territories, and Australia. The data updates the list last published in February of 2015 with 31 additional Systems. The data is presented in two lists; one with 623 entries for Project 25 Phase 1 Systems including 7 from Australia and a second list of Project 25 Phase 2 systems with 117 entries. This is a total of 740 known P25 systems operating in the US and Australia.

The P25 System lists are organized State by State. Phase 1 systems have Florida leading with 63 systems followed by Texas with 50, California with 47, and Virginia with 36. Phase 2 systems are led by Texas with 16 followed by New Jersey 10 systems. In addition, the list identifies if the system operates in the VHF, UHF or 700/800 MHz band. Some systems have a mixture of frequencies from more than one band which is possible with the Project 25 Standard..

The Project 25 Technology Interest Group is currently compiling a list of P25 Systems in nations beyond the USA and Australia. If you would like to contribute data to this project please reply to the "contact us" link on the homepage.

The list can be accessed for download using the Project 25 Technology Interest Group website Quick link buttons for direct access are found on the home page

The Project 25 Technology Interest Group sponsored and developed two 4 hour panel presentations at IWCE 2015.  The PPT slides fron these presentations are now available for review.  Summaries of the PTIG P25 Panel Sessions and  links to the slides are below.

Project 25 Foundations and System Technology Updates for 2015

This session provided training and information useful to the attendees seeking deeper understanding and updated awareness of the established P25 standards, the matching equipment capabilities, and the continued evolution of system technologies and interfaces.
Direct references to the completed P25 standards as published were emphasized to provide the attendees a full comprehension of the completed P25 phases. Content of the presentations highlighted complete Phase 1 FDMA systems, expanding deployment of Phase 2 TDMA systems, and P25 standardized system interface capabilities that continue to reinforce multiple vendor compatibility in fixed equipment as well as in subscriber/mobile/portable equipment.
Ongoing work on new standards for Project 25 System security and encryption was presented as well as possibilities for the interface for P25 LMR and LTE data systems.

Learning Objectives: Many P25 stakeholders and users today face daunting challenges for clarity of choices and challenging issues of emerging technologies. The material emphasized the P25 radio and system capabilities deliverable today, resources available for testing, technical guidance, migration planning, and system integration.   Also covered were the next phases of the P25 Standards development, and what the next steps may yield for harmonizing future capabilities with P25 in existing LMR systems.

P25 User’s Perspective, Interoperability, and Customer Applications Update for 2015

This panel and workshop session derived content from Project 25 user experiences and system case histories. It was structured as a series of presentations by a representatives from DHS OEC, A Federal Agency Overview, and a series of Case Studies of Individual P25 Systems.  Each presenter provided their background, past experience, current view, and future expectations for P25 technology. Presentations Included: DHS OEC, Oregon, Wyoming, Federal Agency Overview, Michigan, MACC911, and the US Coast Guard.

Learning Objectives:  -- P25 in Planning and Procurement.  -- P25 Experiences during Implementation and Deployments.   -- Interoperability with neighbors and overlapping jurisdictions.   -- Experiences with Multiple Vendors Systems, Equipment, Interfaces.  -- Other Technology Resources beyond Manufacturers and Equipment Suppliers.   Consultants, Integrators,Third Parties.
